Rijeka, Croatia’s third largest city and the main seaport of the Croatian Adriatic, lies in Kvarner bay. The city is full of cultural monuments and despite its smaller size possesses a charming urban vibe which you will experience first hand. We’ll be walking next to the “dead” channel through market spots where old sailing ships used to dock introducing you to stories of city’s most influental people and visionaries while sightseeing some of the most representable buildings. We will see the statue of J.P. Kamov, Chapel of st. Nepomuk, Liberation monument, Memorial Bridge, National Theatre, Galeb – the former yacht of J.B. Tito, the pier of Rijeka, market….
Our tour will include a visit to Trsat Castle, one of the oldest fortifications on the Croatian coast, as well as Our Lady of Trsat Sanctuary, the largest centre of pilgrimage in western Croatia.
Next to Rijeka lies the city of Opatija, a famous resort-city, with its stunning mansions that line the coast, filling the town with a certain atmosphere of grandeur. Beautiful parks, postcard-promenades and luxurious hotels all add to Opatija’s charm and beauty. A walk in the well-tended parks and the seaside promenade offer the rare combination of being able to enjoy the charms of nature and a taste of the high life that reaches back into the spirit of the past.
